Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you.
Psalm 122:6
Lord Jesus, when you walked among us, you wept over Jerusalem and prayed that you might have been able to protect her like a mother hen gathers her brood under her wings. For Jerusalem, and the Holy Land, we pray.
For those who are right now under threat of violence and war in Israel and Palestine, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For those who mourn the loss of those who they love, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For those who are despondent over those who are held hostage, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For those who are injured, and seeking treatment, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For those who have lost their home, and who now have no where to lay their heads, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For those who are fleeing the violence of war, and for those who have no where else to go, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For those who are tending and ministering to the injured, the dying, the elderly, and those who are displaced, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For the leaders of Israel and Palestine, and for the leaders of the nations of the world, that there may be an end to the violence and terror, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
For the people of Israel and Palestine, that there might not just be an end to war, but an end to hatred, suspicion, and oppression. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
O Jesus, who taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, we pray for the perpetrators of the violence, those who planned and carried out the campaign of terror and kidnapping, that their hearts may be turned and they they may release those who are held against their will. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May they prosper who love you.
God Almighty, this is the land in which you called Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; the land where you had Moses and Joshua bring your people from slavery in Egypt; the land in which you established a throne for David; the land where your Son was born, and lived, and died. By the power of his Resurrection from the dead, we pray for an end to this violence, and all violence in that sacred landscape. May it finally be a place where the lion may lie down with the lamb, and where weapons of war be smashed into ploughshares. Bring peace not just to the land, but to the people—your people. In the Name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace we pray. Amen.
